I installed this vertical trailer hitch with the help of a friend. The main tool I needed was an alignment bar. As stated by other installers do not tighten any bolts until the hitch is completely on. I truly enjoy this hitch.
Put this on my 05 goldwing. Had a buddy to help, Glad I did, Because it made things go alot smoother. We followed the downloaded instructions and removed the mufflers and everything went good with the only problem was the H bracket had to be nudged a little to get the bolt holes to line up. But with 2 people working together even that was a Minor Issue.
Put the Add-On hitch on my 2010 Wing and I needed a third hand to pry (nudge) the brackets to line up for the bolts. I would recommend having a buddy assist because you need to be behind and alongside the bike at the same time. After one pinched finger while trying to manuver the long bracket to the saddlebag support, you will agree.
Getting the bolts to line up was difficult but like in Ronnie's review, the hardest thing was replacing the rear fender. I had to spread the bags to get the holes to line up in the H bracket. I have a slightly wider gap on the left side adjoining saddlebag.
Overall I love the hitch. It is out of site when not in use. I use it to tow my pet trailer or autolinx carrier.
PITA Feels like a solid hitch after you get it on, if you get it on. H bracket screws are short had to leave the flat washer off.
Most of the pain was because the bike was tweaked a little. Not done yet update later!
I am very happy with this product and the prompt handling of my order by Wingstuff! I was careful to read the instructions a couple of times and did not tighten the mounting hardware until everything was in its final place. Take your time, use the recommended torque values and you'll reap the benefits of a nice hitch at a nice price for your bike (Mine is a 2006 Gold Wing). Next project, trunk rack...
Put this on my 05 Wing and no problem at all. Strong and secure. Took about 3 hours to do. I bought this back in the fall and downloaded the instructions from this site .. didnt have any problems. Just been waiting around to put it on... and since my trailer will be here in about three weeks i figured i better get with it. Cant imagine why anyone would want to pay more.
This is the biggest peice of sh-t I have ever tried to in stall on my 2001 wing. After three hours of trying to get the front mounts lined up I took it back off and put bike back togather.I would give this a-0000 if I could. I wasted 5 hours of my time and the money that I spent scene you can not return product after you opened it. and the instructions are worthless also
Did not give this 5 stars because it was a PIA to install. Nothing lined up, had to use pry bars and punches to line up bolt holes on my 2006. Took me 2.5 hours after I had taken everything off to start bolting it up. Don't know if the other brands are any different but would consider another brand that would line up better, solid well built and serves it's purpose.

Got this hitch for my wife for Christmas :) and want to send my kudos to Steve Butland for his instruction sheets with the photos. Sure made the job a whole bunch easier that the sheets provided by the AO team. Install took less than two hours on my 2001 GL1800A, as recommended finger tight all the bolts until all are installed, then tighten up all bolts.
Now to find a nice spot to install the trailer plug that isn't too obvious! Thanks again Steve!
And we can't wait to show you how it's done!
