loose grips

Have had these on now for a full year. They still work correctly and heat up nicely however about 6 months in the throttle side began to slip. I tried adding glue but did not work. Perhaps i did not get enough on to begin with.

Got No Heat

Totally frustrated and feel I'm getting the run around. I feel I might have made a bad decission and should have gone to another manuafacturer.

I like the idea from the previous commentor that he made his own controller. If possible list what you used. This maybe the way to eliminate my problem but I feel Show Chrome should stand behind their product and I would rather keep the product original.

First off installation was not a problem. Crips went on and wiring is simple. Years ago I went with and additional fuse block that accomendates all the neat stuff you can add to your wing.

Well go figure no heat and then I saw the NOTE about the voltage has to be at a specific voltage. I checked and the voltage is below the manuafactures limits.
Decided to attached the hot lead directly to the battery. All I get is the 5 blue flashes which indicates voltage below the limit but I varified 13.4 to 13.7 of the battery. So there is no voltage drop there.
I checked the continuity for both LH and RH grips and they are good. Power to the controller is reading 13.4.
I believe the controller itself is defective.
Made a call to Show Chrome, explained the problem and the rep agreed most likely the controller was defective. Asked for a replacement part but I had work this problem thru the vendor. I returned the item to shop wear I purchase them but still waiting on a decission. I sure would like to see some feed back from the commentor that made his own controller.

This is an update from my previous post. After removing the controller and replacing it with a switch and a few other modifications to replace the controller they work great. They take a bit to get warm but full on they will probably burn you. I decided to not send these back because I didn't want to have to tear into my bike again just to be without grips for a little while. I'm sure that wingstuff or show chrome would have replaced them had I asked. They came with an extra wire that would go from the accessory block to the controller if needed, but they plug right into a 04 GL1800 without any problems. Over all, I would recommend these to anyone on a budget that wants to ride in the cooler weather.

Cheap. Worked for a couple of weeks, then the left one barely gets warm. I will spring for Honda OEM grips.

Installation wasn't too bad, but I installed these just prior to a seven day ride into chilly weather - and they didn't work. Lights came on real pretty on the controller, but no heat. Called Showchrome and they couldn't really help diagnose a problem. Recommended I return them for a refund. Been trying to get a return authorization from Wingstuff for a week without success.

I'm thinking I'll just plunk down the extra money and get a set of Honda heated grips. Way more expensive, but I bet they'll work and last a long time. Don't have a lot of spare time - prefer to spend it riding vs. troubleshooting electronics.

Review follow up....

After posting my previous 2 star review I contacted WingStuff to see if they sold just 1 grip. They seemed genuinely concerned for my problem & advised me to order a new complete set, replace the complete set & then return the broken set for a full refund. Sounded great to me!!!

Then, I was contacted by Show Chrome... They were concerned about my problems & wanted to insure that everything was being taken care of by WingStuff to my satisfaction.

Seriously?? I was getting all this attention for a $70 item? WOW!!!

For the customer service - I give it 100 stars!

As for the grips - As a previous review said - the controller on the grips is not as pictured, it's now a push button. Otherwise great!

I ordered these expecting to get what was displayed in the picture. Well, the grips are the same, and the wiring harness is the same, but the controller is different. Instead of a knob controll it was two buttons (on/off) and you would push the on button so many times to raise the heat or the off button to lower the heat. Not a big deal i thought, but still. Any ways, I should have tested them before I took the time to install them because when I plugged them in after the install, they wouldn't come on. I tested the connections with a multi meter and it's getting the correct 13.2 volts from the accessory port, but I can press the button on the controller all I please and it still doesn't work. I'm considering taking the controller off and wiring the grips to a potentiometer and a switch. Other notes: the power connector fits at least an 04 GW connector. The grip connectors can be easily routed without removing most of the cowlings and you can easily take a pin to push the clips down on the wires to get them out of the connectors. This helps in routing, just be sure to put them in the correct place when putting them back. Another note is that the controller's wire had 3 connectors on it (1 for power and 2 for the grips). This could be hard to place since the cord comes out of the bottom of the controller instead of the back. I put mine in the right hand locked pocket. I can't say how hot they get because they haven't worked for me yet, but if I get them working I will update this.

I had these for over a year now and they work fantastic! They heat up the gloves which feel good on the hands. How I installed the controller was I carefully measured the blank spot where the stock controller would go below the right lockable box. The controller is slightly wedged so my cut was just big enough to push through the backside far enough to where the wires comming out of the box was almost against the backside of the blank cutout. I then hot glued the inside of the blank to the controller. Then i used black silicone to dress up the outside. There is a plug on the inside of the fairing so I plugged it in installed everything back and the outcome looks like it came from the factory. beautiful job!
