I still think these are a little bit to flimsy where the screw mounts the pivot but have to upgrade the status because of Big Bike's response to my complaint. After some discussion and me sending them a picture of the poles they are replacing them free of charge. To me a company that will stand behind their product is worth it's weight in gold. (or chrome as the case may be)
Bought 2 of these. One for each side of the bike. They looked good. Bit of a PITA getting the antenna clocked right but after that they did look nice, until today. I rode under a branch, not real low because I didn't have to duck but it pulled the antenna's back a bit. Parked the bike and noticed the flag poles where gone. Both of them snapped off at the pivot. Almost no contact at all as the antennas were not bent at all afterwards. Very unhappy with these. They were less than 2 weeks old.
The product was great and easy to install. Once installed looked great. But after a few rides I found the drawback. With the flag constantly wrapping around the antenna it ate up two flags in 6 months. Wish I had my money back for this piece of junk.
They look good once installed but I spent all of my time unwrapping them from around my antennas. They are a bit embarrasing all wrapped up like that. Not worth the expense. I took them off and put in the garage somewhere. Wish I had that money back.
The first one I had installed, came apart going down the road and my flag and top piece went flying. With some kind of luck I actually found both pieces. Later I added another one to the other antenna and just the other day, the swivel mount screw vibrated out and I lost the entire top half of the flag pole. That's the last one of these I will ever buy.
There was one of these on my bike when I bought it. I had no problems with it (always tight) so I bought another for the second antenna.
Had no problem mounting it, except that the jam nut stayed on the top part of the antenna, instead of the bottom section as indicated in the instructions. Took me about 20 minutes to install with some trial and error to get it just right. However, it constantly came loose and needed to be tightened every time I get off the bike.
Shortly after mounting the second pole, I noticed the chrome starting to peel on the original. Got tired of tightening the second one, so I took it off and used the pole to replace the chromeless one. So now I'm back to one flagpole. Too pricey for the quality ($60+!!), and I can't recommend this product.
I think Kuryakyn was having a bad day when they designed this flag pole. The idea to make it fold down was good, but the mounting of this pole was not to good. The pole does tend to drop when driving and causes the antenna to knock into each other. I would seek other types before buying this again.
