not accurate

Installed on my 2004, and it first showed existing battery at 66%. Within 2 weeks, it showed 30%, and started beeping every couple of nights. So, I bought a brand new battery (Deka, 320CCA, made in USA). Checked it with a battery tender meter and it was over 90%. Installed it, and BB says it is only 66%! WTF? Rechecked connections, reconnected BB, and same thing. So, I figure it reads low, and if it drops to 30%, I will have battery tested as precaution. I guess it's better than nothing.

More Cheap & Necessary Insurance

Just got back from a run where I had a scare when my Wing wouldn't start or crank. Turned out one of battery terminals loosened up and a quick tightening got me back up. BUT, it shook me up enough since I bought the Wing used a year ago and it's an '07. It only had 1600 miles on the bike but I didn't know if the previous owner had ever replaced the battery since it's now going on 5 years old. So based on the reviews and product details I purchased this for piece of mind. Got it installed in about 1/2 hour. I mounted it below the Navigation controls on the right side of the fairing which took the majority of the install time along with removing the seat. Once I got her installed, ran the bike and was pleased with the battery bug's diagnostic info telling me that my battery was basically in tip top shape with good cranking power, excellent charging and a 91% battery life remaining. Took a big worry off my mind. Highly recommend this product.

Needed Equipment

I just installed this on my 2012 Goldwing,I installed it in the left side faring pocket. Very simple to install I did have to drill hole 1/2 inch because of contact ends to fit through. The rest was running wire to battery very simple. I felt that it was needed because as I add light and whatnot to my bike knowing the health of my battery is very important. When bike is not in use for winter it's plugged into battery tender all the time. So battery stay good.. Get it!! You won't be sorry!!

PS: It does have a light so you can see it at night if you have to look at it. But this one also has a beeping sound when your battery is in trouble.

I think this is an important product to have and found it easy to install. I mounted my on the inside of the cover to the left side storage compartment under the speaker because it is not necessary to be seen all the time. This is where I ran the battery lead for the battery tender battery charger so I soldered a matching plug to the lead wires made it plug and play. I can unplug to charge battery or to lock in trunk if needed.

I installed this product in the trunk with the supplied velco. Seems to be holding just fine. I have a flashlight in the trunk so reading it at night is possible. I do like the peace of mind that comes with it.

The unit works flawlessly. Installation is extremely simple. The hard part is deciding where you want to mount it. I chose to mount on the lid of the trunk and this is the reason I chose to give only 4 stars. The unit uses a “Velcro” backing to mount the display. I have found that the “Velcro” fails to keep the display in place when the trunk is closed. I open the trunk and find it dangling by the wire. I will get some good quality double backed tape and the issue will be resolved.
Overall it is still a wonderful and inexpensive unit to give you good feedback on how your system is doing.
