Pre-set iPod/iPhone manually to playlist, artist or songs and control playing up and down in that selected mode with unlimited songs.

Direct Plug-N-Play on ALL GL1800 Gold Wing motorcycles and most 2003-2010 Honda / Acura automobiles (see vehicle application chart below).

Honda GL1800 Gold Wing Accessory - Designed specifically to be Plug-N-Play for the Honda Goldwing GL1800 for Apple iPod, iPod nano and iPhone.
When Soundgate Interface is connected to the GL1800 radio, it is activated by placing the Goldwing GL1800 radio into CD changer mode. In this application, the Soundgate emulates a factory CD changer; it tricks your Goldwing radio into thinking that it is a factory CD changer.
Therefore, because of the limitations of the radio's display capabilities while in CD changer mode, the display information coming from the iPOD or iPhone will resemble the CD text seen when an actual factory Honda CD changer is installed.

I installed this on my 2002 with ease. It does exactly what it says. The price is right, way better than other products that do the same thing.
It keeps my iPod charged up, the controls on the handlebar work perfect.
I have been telling everyone about this. I don't see how anyone would still use a cd player when you can do so much more with the iPod.
I installed this unit about a week ago so I do not have a long-term report. But in the short term, it is working as advertised.
I was surprised how easily it installed. Just remove the seat and plug in the single connector to the bike. You don't have to deal with any additional power or ground wires. The unit gets all of that through the bike plug.
The hardest part of the installation was due to the fact that I wanted my iPod to be in the trunk. I ended up drilling a hole in the lower front wall of the trunk where the seat covers it. Since I had to get the rectangular shaped iPod connector into the trunk, I had to take a jig saw and cut an appropriately shaped hole. After getting the connector through, I sealed it back up with hot melt glue.
I do not have an iPhone, so I cannot comment on other folks talking about those issues. I have both an iPod Classic 160 and also an iPod Touch 4. Both work fine with this unit. It is really nice to be able to thumb through your playlists and tracks using the bike controls. Also nice is that you can toggle on/off track repeat and random, and also that the time counter on the bike display works so you can keep an eye on that.
I read in some reviews complaints about the playlists resetting to the first track when you turn the bike off. My unit does not do this. It picks up exactly where it left off, regardless if I turn off the bike or if I go to some other audio source and then return. So if that problem did exist, it appears that they fixed it.
Like I said, no long trips yet, but I have spent a day of riding with it and it worked flawlessly. So far, I'm happy!
I still use this and would rate it * * * * * but it sometimes locks up so that I can't control my iPod classic. When it works, it's great. When it locks up, it's a pain. It's locked up about 4 times so far and each time I have to remove the seat, unplug and reboot to get it going again. Too bad, so sad.
I had seen this product but was hesitant to buy this due to the price, but I broke down and got it at the $80 sale price. I had purchased the Tech-Connectâ„¢ Device Mounting System by Kuryakyn for my I Phone and ran a extended audio plug to listen to my Music in the AUX Mode and a 12V Aux plug out of the pocket to charge it.I could touch the phone to pick my playlists and such but was uncomfortable messing with it while riding and the hummm from the electrical system sometimes was quite annoying. I installed the Soundgate under the seat and ran the plug up under the Cowling up next to the left side pocket where the Headphone line comes out and to the Tech-Connect Mount. Now I can listen to my I-PHONE 4 Hum Free, and I can still pick my playlists with the phone or the Handle bar and radio controls. I can also see whats playing and who calls,if I got texted or an Email. The unit works just like it's supposed to so far. I love the SDR Mode best which allows for the Dual Operation. Now I can grab my phone off the Handle bars and go and when I come back it starts right where it left off. Oh and did I say NO Humm , sounds great and keeps Phone Charged. I have a 2006 Goldwing.
And we can't wait to show you how it's done!
