Great potential but not quite there yet

This was my second player (the first was the J&M - see my review of item# JMJMDMIPAXGL18).

I have since sent this back for a full refund and I'm now using the Soundgate (to be reviewed soon).

This player have a lot of potential but unfortunately, it did not work for me. Pete at BikeMp3 provided excellent support and I cannot fault his efforts. Unfortunately he was unable to fix my problems.

I had similar symptoms to what Scott described. It would work perfectly while the bike is switched on, even when I switched the source away from CD to radio and back - it would remember where it was - as long as the bike was not turned off in between.

It also would not show the correct track number when on CD1 (first playlist) although it would play correctly (skipping tracks, etc.).

However, when the bike is turned off, the next time it would consistently jump to the same CD and track (I think it was CD4 T3 or 5). No matter what we tried, for some reason it got stuck remembering this CD/Track. Very annoying.

After months of trying to get it to work, I finally had enough and sent it back.

Only 3 stars as it did work properly once you got it going, but 2 stars off as it did not work as it was supposed to.

Good Product

Installation was pretty straight forward, the directions are a little lacking and I suggest you watch the installation video on the Bikemp3 website. It fills in the holes in the directions. Only issue I have had is that unit resets every time you turn off your bike. So you always start to the same series of songs. Still much better that the patch cord and attempting to change songs on the IPOD while your riding.

Better then a cd-changer

No issue with the installation. I reviewed the installation video at: http://www.bikemp3.com/GL1800-Digital-Music-Player-V3-HGW-IPD-V03.htm

I had more difficulty in setting up folders/files in iTunes. Where is a teenager when you need one?

It works perfectly and sounds great!
